Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture offers an insight into the wide range of subjects that are covered by biomechanical research. The aim is to make students sensitive to understand the essence of problems of (human) motion analysis and to create an idea of the methodical treatment. In the course of this lecture, special emphasis is put on covering a large amount of different subjects. Deeper insight into the problems is provided by recommendations of suitable literature of leading scientists in the field.
Examples of topics may be adapted to the interests of the auditory and can include
... sports biomechanics: pole vault (Brüggemann*), shot put (Singh, Kay, Koh, Peng, Huang*), swimming (Sanders*; in connection with a short introduction to computational fluid dynamics), running and running shoes (Nigg*), muscle tuning due to impact (Nigg*), biomechanics of strength training (Schmidtbleicher), ...
... physiological aspects: muscle recruitment (Rasmussen*), stretch-shortening cycle (Komi*), Bioenergetics (Ward, Smith*), ...
... rehabilitation: overuse injuries (Hamill*), ankle sprain, knee/hip joint kinematics and kinetics (Capozzo*), prosthetics, ...
¿ excursion to European's largest climatic wind tunnel (Railtec Arsenal, Austrian Research Centers, Arsenal Research)
*Of course, not exclusively the persons in parentheses are working on these subjects.
