Aims, contents and method of the course
- A general introduction to the historical methods, scientific theoretical approaches / concepts / theories- How concepts of motion/exercise and body were taught in ancient Greece- How concepts of motion/exercise and body are taught today- Philanthropinismus, Rousseau, GutsMuths- Modern systems of the „culture of human motion“- Historic British Sport- German gymnastics- Lingianismus- Modern Olympic Games since 1894- Sports and Exercise Systems in the Habsburg Monarchy- Sports organisation and sports policy in the first and second republic- The specific ideological parameters of sports in Austrofascism- Sport and Nazism- Modern olympic games until 1936- Development of sports science in Austria from 1848 to today ( by international standards ) .- Gender specific form of exercise and sports in named periods/Ages- selected aspects of modern sports history- Examples for sports and globalization , economization , mediatization

Aim of the course:- In General: to familiarize students with the historical development of the social phenomenon “sport”- to obtain an overview of the most important motion-cultural currents/trends in ( European) history- To know that exercise and sport were closely linked with the respective social, political , economic, cultural , etc. factors in society and and still are
