Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims: Familiarization with and practical testing of various performance-physiological test procedures in the areas of endurance, strength, speed, agility and coordination in laboratory and field conditions and for different target groups. Acquisition of skills for preparing, carrying out and evaluating the tests presented and reflection on dealing with test subjects from different target groups.

Contents: In this course, various performance-physiological test procedures are presented in theory and demonstrated and tried out in practice.
- Spiroergometry (incremental tests)
- Isokinetic/isometric force measurements
- Other force measurements (velocity-based, 1 RM, ...)
- Jump diagnostics / power tests
- Anaerobic tests (Wingate, Cunningham Faulkner, ...)
- Target group-specific tests for older adults (grip strength, chair rise test, walking speed, sit and reach...)

Methods: 6 units on different topics, in each of which theoretical content is presented for approx. one hour (in the lecture hall) and then the practical implementation of the tests is presented and discussed for approx. 2 hours (in the laboratory).

Assessment and permitted materials

- Group project with written submission: Small research project of your own in which a test procedure of your choice will be applied. The research project must be presented in a written exposé before the start of the study. In a written submission after the project has been carried out, the project should be summarized according to the IMRaD structure.
- Written final test: In the final test, open questions must be answered in writing. The response time is 45 minutes. You only require a pen. Additional resources are not permitted.
- Participation in the discussion phases and active collaboration

Students must complete all coursework for courses in the winter semester that are subject to examinations by the following April 30 at the latest. Students who have not deregistered from the course in question. Students who have not deregistered from the course in question must be assessed. In the event of a negative assessment, a board examination is not permitted and the course must be repeated. Legal source: Statutes of the University of Vienna §10 (4, 5, 6).

You are expressly informed that in the event of a fraudulent performance (e.g: Copying, plagiarism, use of unauthorized aids, forgery, ghostwriting, etc.) the entire PI-LV will be counted as cheated and will count as an attempt. (Entry in U:SPACE: X = not assessed).
