Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills in selected martial arts and self-defense. Particular emphasis is placed on the didactic preparation of these practices for application in school physical education, with careful consideration of both safety and pedagogical aspects. Furthermore, students are expected to develop a reflective understanding of physical conflict resolution strategies, violence prevention, and personal protection.

1. Preparatory and Sensitizing Exercises:

- Introduction to cooperative and playful exercises designed to overcome fear of physical contact
- Teaching of basic combative forms in a game-based structure
- Fundamentals of safe falling techniques, with the goal of injury-free behavior in combative situations

2. Martial Arts (Standing and Ground-Based) – Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Bjj:

- Instruction in essential techniques of stand-up combat (punches, kicks, clinch) and ground fighting (positional control, transitions, submissions)
- Methodical introduction to rules, safety considerations, and the pedagogical integration of martial arts into the school setting
- Practical training formats: shadow boxing, partner drills, technique circuits, simplified sparring forms
- Didactically reduced content tailored to the age and developmental level of school students

3. Self-Defense, Assertiveness, and Violence Prevention:

- Exploration of definitions and forms of violence in the school context
- Introduction to concepts of verbal and non-verbal conflict resolution (conflict communication)
- Practical instruction in basic defensive techniques through role-playing scenarios
- Promotion of personal and social competencies through the application of combative movement forms

Didactic-Methodological Approach:
The course adopts an interactive, practice-oriented, and reflective approach. In addition to instructional and cooperative learning methods, playful and scenario-based strategies are used to foster motor, emotional, and social competencies. Theory-based reflections on safety, ethics, pedagogy, and methodology complement the practical sports instruction.
