Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims: Understanding and analyzing group dynamic processes.

Contents:
- Observation and recognition of group dynamics.
- Fundamentals of communication.
- Impact of leadership on group performance.
- Causes of a team's performance decline (group collapse).
- Interventions to enhance group performance and cohesion.
- Factors influencing a motivational climate.
- Fundamentals and effects of group synchrony and group cognition.

Methods: Practical exercises and assignments related to the above-mentioned content. Collection, presentation, and written summary of personal data (seminar paper).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

It is recommended that you completed or take "Grundlagen des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens" and "Quantitative Forschungsmethoden" in the same semester.

Students gain the knowledge about group processes and team dynamics, know the underlying mechanisms and possible interventions, and understand the link between theory and practice.

Examination topics

Literature will be provided by the course leader. Students are expected to study the texts given.
