Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims:
- Advanced cognitive and experiential knowledge about the fundamentals of observing, describing, and interpreting group and team processes in sports.
- In-depth knowledge of design and intervention possibilities in group processes, team development, and promoting team functionality.
- Advanced knowledge of team functions in organizations and the conditions for optimizing performance in groups

Contents:
- Observation and recognition of group dynamics.
- Fundamentals of communication.
- Impact of leadership on group performance.
- Causes of a team's performance decline (group collapse).
- Interventions to enhance group performance and cohesion.
- Factors influencing a motivational climate.
- Fundamentals and effects of group synchrony and group cognition.

Methods: Group project, practical exercises, and assignments related to the above-mentioned content.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation (18%):
- Submission of assignments
- Engagement in practical exercises

Presentation of the group project in the course (35%)

Seminar paper (35%) and individual reflection (12%) on the group project

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positive assessment, it is required to actively contribute to the group project's presentation (attendance at the group's own presentation date!), be responsible for a part of the seminar paper related to the group project, and submit the personal reflection.

The grading scale is as follows:

1 = 100 – 88
2 = 87 – 76
3 = 75 – 64
4 = 63 – 51
5 = 50 and below
