Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is an individual, as well as team coordinated approach to assisting students in understanding the game of soccer as a means of maintaining or improving higher levels of fitness. While developing the individual skills and team play necessary to participate in this sport, students will receive valuable fitness benefits such as improved cardiovascular health, flexibility, balance, and coordination which will aid the student in keeping a healthy lifestyle.

The following aspects will be covered:

Fundamental skills and knowledge of soccer
Soccer History and Development
Movement and Positioning
Specific Rule Situations
Skills Assessment

Assessment and permitted materials

You will be assessed through exams, assignments (e.g. lesson plans), mini-presentations, and reports.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The student will

understand the rules and regulations of the game of soccer.
develop techniques including ball handling, passing, and shooting.
recognize and execute game situations (throw-ins, goal kick, corner kick, penalty kicks, and resets).
comprehend offensive and defensive game strategy.
learn proper stretching and warm-up pertinent to soccer.
maintain positive sportsmanship and appropriate game etiquette.
