Entrance evaluation: 10 questions are to be answered in writing. Primarily the questions provided on Moodle are used. However, because elaborated questions are in circulation, which lead to the fact that not the contents are understood, but only the old questions are learned by heart, also new questions can be included, which are not made available on Moodle. Only questions that can be answered by the literature, which is listed under "Relevant for the entrance evaluation", will be used. If new questions are included, they are also clearly answerable from this literature. The response time is 45 minutes.Only relevant for students on the waiting list: You may participate in the entrance evaluation even if you are on the waitlist. If you do not pass, you will not be penalized, there are no consequences. If you pass, there are 2 possibilities: 1) Fewer students with a fixed place pass the entrance evaluation than there are available places in the internship. Then students who pass the entrance evaluation move up from the waiting list to the internship. 2) As many students pass the entrance evaluation as there are fixed places available. You will not get an internship place in this semester, but as soon as you have a fixed place in one of the following semesters, you do not have to pass the entrance evaluation anymore. However, if you want to improve your score, you can participate again, in which case the new participation will count, even if you achieve fewer points.Final evaluation: 10 questions have to be answered in writing. The questions provided on Moodle will be used primarily, but new questions can also be included that are not available on Moodle. If new questions are included, they must be clearly answerable from the given literature. The answering time is 45 minutes. You only need a ballpoint pen and a calculator. Additional aids are not permitted. The overall grade results from the combination of both sections (Heber and Hauer), whereby the positive completion of both sections is a prerequisite for a positive assessment.
The entire performance by students must be completed by the following April 30 at the latest for courses subject to examinations in the winter semester, and by the following September 30 at the latest for courses subject to examinations in the summer semester. Students who have not withdrawn from the course in question. Students who have not deregistered from the course in question are to be evaluated. In the case of a negative assessment, a board examination is not permitted and the course must be repeated. Legal source: Statutes of the University of Vienna §10 (4, 5, 6).
You are expressly informed that if you are found to have cheated (e.g.: Copying, plagiarizing, use of unauthorized aids, forgery, ghostwriting, etc.) the entire PI-LV will be considered cheated and will count as a citation. (Entry in U:SPACE: X = not assessed).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The overall grade results from the combination of both parts (Heber and Hauer), whereby positive completion of both parts is required for a positive assessment (for Assessment and permitted materials, see above).
Part Heber: (50% of the total grade)
Part Hauer: (50% of the total grade)
Positive completion of both parts is required for a positive performance evaluation. The two positive grades will be averaged.Part Heber: Each of the questions you complete on the two evaluations will be awarded 0, ½, or 1 point.Entrance Evaluation: a minimum of 60% must be achieved in order to continue in the course.
Final Evaluation: At least 60% must be achieved in order to pass the final evaluation. If you have completed the final evaluation with at least 60%, the following procedure will be used to calculate the grade for the Heber subsection:
During the internships (immanent to the exam!) you can earn additional points through outstanding participation, but points can also be deducted through conspicuous poor performance. The points of the two evaluations as well as those of the internships are added and the percentage of possible 20 points is calculated. 60-69% Satisfactory, 70-79% Satisfactory, 80-89% Good, 90-100% Very Good.If you do not pass the initial evaluation the first time, there will be a second assessment.
At this assessment you will be given another 10 questions to answer. If after the 2nd appointment you have achieved at least 60% overall (i.e. the points from the 1st and 2nd appointments are added together!), you can participate in the internship. For the calculation of the grade of this section, 30 points are then taken as 100% (corresponding to your 30 answered questions).Exemplary calculation 1: You have achieved 5 out of 10 possible points at the first date of the entrance evaluation, i.e. 50%. So you can try again. At the second appointment, you score 7 out of 10 points. Therefore, you have achieved a total of 12 out of 20 points. This equals 60%, which allows you to participate in the internship. (Keep in mind that the fewer points you scored at the first appointment, the higher the number of points needed at the 2nd appointment to reach a total of 60%. If you scored less than 2 points at the first appointment, even with full points at the 2nd appointment, 60% is no longer attainable!) You will earn 1 additional point if you cooperate remarkably well, and you will achieve 8 out of 10 points in the final evaluation. This means that you have achieved a total of 21 out of 30 points. This results in 70%, i.e. a Satisfactory.Example calculation 2: You have achieved 8 out of 10 possible points at the first date of the entrance evaluation, i.e. 80%, which enables you to participate in the internship. Through conspicuously good cooperation you earn an additional 2 points, and at the final evaluation you achieve 8 out of 10 points. This means that you have achieved a total of 18 out of 20 points. This results in 90%, which is a Very Good.

Examination topics
Heber: The exam material corresponds to the given literature and (as support!) the entire video provided on Moodle. The latter is not sufficient to pass the course.
The textbooks or their chapters are available to students free of charge as pdf files via u:search. For this purpose, after logging in as a student, the title or doi number must be entered in the search field. Attention: For the Dual Series Biochemistry and Physiology (Pape, Kurtz, Silbernagl) the doi-number in the search field does not work. You have to search for the title or author. On the Thieme website you then have to click on 'To current edition' on the left. Please let me know if something has changed in the access.

A solid basic knowledge of physiology is absolutely essential for learning performance physiology testing procedures.
This was taught to you in the compulsory module Sports Medicine BB1. It consists of "I - VO Fundamentals of Anatomy (3 ECTS, 2 SST, NPI)" and "II - VO Fundamentals of Physiology (3 ECTS, 2 SST, NPI)". Content of the latter lecture according to the curriculum: "Knowledge of physiological basics (physiology of all important functional systems such as heart, lungs, brain, liver, gastrointestinal tract, hormones...) with special emphasis on physical activity".
One ECTS point represents 25 real hours of 60 minutes of actual work on the part of the student. Thus, your basic physiological training from the lecture "Fundamentals of Physiology" comprises 75 real hours. According to the curriculum, BB1 is a prerequisite for BB2III - UE Performance Physiological Testing Procedures (2 ECTS, 2 SST, PI). Following the curriculum, the 75-hour physiology education is a prerequisite for this course. To ensure that only adequately prepared students participate in the practicum, an entrance evaluation must be completed for practical participation. Successful completion of this is a prerequisite for participation in the practical course and thus for positive completion of the course. To help you review the relevant physiology content necessary for understanding performance physiology testing procedures, I have created a presentation. This can be found on the Moodle platform. The following are relevant for the entrance evaluation
a) The presentation up to 02:39:30 (i.e. including ATP - the universal energy carrier). Important: Presentation serves as a supplement (!) to the chapters given below (under "Literature"). The content of the presentation can of course not represent the entire presupposed knowledge from 75 real hours of physiology education.
b) The content of those chapters given below, under "Literature, Relevant for Entrance Evaluation", from the book Physiology. 8th, unchanged edition. Stuttgart: Thieme; 2018. doi:10.1055/b-006-149284. This book is given by the current lecturer (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jürgen Scharhag) and was also given by the former lecturer (ao. Univ.-Prof. i.R. Dr. Gerhard Smekal) as literature for "II - VO Fundamentals of Physiology (3 ECTS, 2 SST, NPI)".In the course of the three following practical courses, performance physiological test procedures are worked out theoretically and practically, building on the previous physiological knowledge. In particular, the three-phase nature of energy supply, its biochemical basis, as well as lactate performance diagnostics and spiroergometry will be addressed. The corresponding contents can be found in the book "Compendium of Sports Medicine" as well as in the book "Dual Series Biochemistry" in the chapters listed below. It is also recommended (but not required!) to complete the following lectures before attending this course: BB2 I - VO Physiology considering physical activity (3 ECTS, 2 SST, NPI) and BB2 II - VO Performance diagnostics (3 ECTS, 2 SST, NPI).
