Aims, contents and method of the course

AIMS
The students gained a general overview of the theoretical basics of project management and dealt with a project from the sports/health sector in an application-oriented way.

TOPICS
Organisation of projects:
Project term, types of projects, project orientation, project management-approach
Methods of project delimitation and project context analysis
Project phases
Project team (roles, team selection, requirements of the project manager), criteria of a successful process, project culture
Basic forms of project organisation
Quality management in projects

Methods concerned with planning and controlling projects:
Performance planning by means of a work breakdown structure
Scheduling (bar charts, milestone schedules, network diagram)
Methods of resource and cost planning
Project controlling
Types of project documentation
IT-usage for projects (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project)

Case study

METHOD
Attendance + self-study or remote learning (2 ECTS = 50 working hours)

Assessment and permitted materials

Digital written exam; by means of an exam sheet to be downloaded via Moodle exam course = preparation of a case study based on open questions; open book format; submission of the edited exam sheet via Moodle in the corresponding submission folder.

You are expressly advised that if a performance obtained is discovered (e.g. copying, plagiarism, use of unauthorised aids, forgery, ghostwriting etc.) the entire course is considered cheating and counts as a start. (Entry in U:SPACE: X = not assessed).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students are able to work on a simple case study on the basis of open questions according to the contents and methods of project management discussed in the course (see point Objectives, Contents and Methods of the Course). A total of 100 points can be achieved.

2 > = 75 and < 88
3 > = 63 and < 75
4 > = 50 and < 63
5 < 50

Examination topics

The students are able to define the main tasks of a project and its objectives, to carry out a social context analysis and derive appropriate measures, to create a work breakdown structure for a simple case study and to specify work packages. They are able to use simple scheduling tools and define milestones and to prepare a project progress report. They can explain the difference between a project and a routine task by means of examples.
