Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Course description: In-depth discussion of all aspects relating to doping prevention,
including furthermore a critical reflection of the 2008 European Football Championship with a focus on sport ethics.
Ethical reflections relating to sports will be based on the principle of morality as laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment: Written examination; duration: 45 minutes; pass grades beginning from 50 % of the scores attainable (¿sufficient¿ etc. to ¿very good¿).
Students will be required to give their own opinion on one topic questioned, providing adequate reasoning for their point of view.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Course aims and objectives: familiarise students with sport ethics in its various fields of application, offering orientation and advice for problems and issues arising in competitive sports; provide students with the philosophical foundations of sport ethics; enable students to identify the main reasons and causes involved in doping and enable students to work out measures to promote doping-free sports.

Examination topics

Methods: Lecture, discussion, posted information material, analysis of concrete examples, instructional film.
