Aims, contents and method of the course

*Design, implementation and analysis of an empirical research study (questionnaire) in the field of sport science and physical education
*Review, practise and improve usage of SPSS
*Review of basic statistical procedures (levels of measurement, descriptive statistics, correlation, parametric and non-parametric tests)

Assessment and permitted materials

1. Regular attendance (absenteeism max. 3 units)
2. Active participation and co-operation during the course
3. Turn-in of ELearning assignments in due time
4. Short presentation of the project results as group presentation
5. Written assignment about the project results
6. Written exam: statistical methods – how to choose the right method, pre-requisites, interpretation of SPSS outputs, calculations): 25/06/2013.

*Design, execution and analysis of a research project in teams
*Practise and improve SPSS-basics

Examination topics

* Theoretical input, working in small groups & discussions
* Practise on the PC (data analysis using SPSS)
* Design & presentation of project results individually or in groups
