Aims, contents and method of the course

*Design, implementation and analysis of an empirical research study (questionnaire) in the field of sport science and physical education
*Review, practise and improve usage of SPSS
*Review of basic statistical procedures (levels of measurement, descriptive statistics, correlation, parametric and non-parametric tests)

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance (absenteeism max. 3 units), active participation and co-operation during the course, turn-in of e-learning assignments in due time, short presentation of the project results as group presentation, written assignment about the project results, written exam: statistical methods & how to choose the right method, pre-requisites, interpretation of SPSS outputs, calculations

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

*Design, execution and analysis of a research project in teams
*Practise and improve SPSS-basics

Examination topics

* Theoretical input, working in small groups & discussions
* Practise on the PC (data analysis using SPSS)
* Design & presentation of project results individually or in groups
* ELearning assignments
