Seminar - Paper:
You have to write one seminar paper (10 pages) on one of the films. The paper has to be written in English. The paper should approach the documentaries as case studies for a specific human rights issue. The film serves as the starting point and the context of your analysis. The human rights law analysis is central, but your paper should not be limited to it. Elaborate on the political, historical, sociological etc. situation portrayed. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the seminar, you are encouraged to apply methodology and expertise specific to your own academic background too.
Presentation: You will be asked to present your main argument as an impulse for a discussion with your colleagues.
Discussion and Review: You are required to review your collegues’ work and provide your critical feedback on their papers.

The aim of the seminar is to utilise human documentaries as human rights case studies
As such, it is intended to introduce students to a human rights focused analysis of films, sensitize students for the rights in question and familiarize them with the legal foundation.
The course thus allows students to conduct human rights case studies on the basis of human rights documentaries, to critically asses their own academic works as welöl as that of their fellow students. It further provides the opportunity to practice and further their presentation and discussion skills.
