Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
There will be frequent homework exercises. Depending on the number of participants, there may also be one or two tests or a final exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
After completion of this course, students should be familiar with the most important methods for solving dynamic optimization problems and with the concepts of dynamic inconsistency and dynamic equilibrium. Furthermore, they should be able to apply these methods and concepts in their own research.
Examination topics
Reading list
The course does not follow any particular textbook. Good references are Recursive Methods in Economic Dynamics by N.L. Stokey and R.E. Lucas, Jr. (Harvard University Press, 1989) and Recursive Macroeconomic Theory by L. Ljungqvist and T. Sargent (MIT Press, Cambridge, 2004). Additional references will be provided during the course.
