Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will discuss how to analyse secondary data and then present results in a paper or presentation. The focus of the course will be on survey data. The main aim of the course is to help students to use existing data in their research. The seven units will discuss:
- How to analyse single variables using tables and graphs;
- How and when to weight survey data;
- How to create indices and summary variables;
- How to display and discuss bivariate relationships using graphs and tables;
- And how to construct and interpret linear and logistic regression models.
The first half of the course will thus discuss single variables and concepts as well as bivariate relationships; the second half will then cover regression modelling.
