Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this Forschungskolloquium participants will present and discuss their dissertation projects both with their peers and me. The (main) focus will be on the way in which PhD students develop their theoretical frame and connect it to their empirical fieldwork, i.e. how they establish the link between concepts and empirically researchable social phenomena.
The Kolloquium is predominantly disciplinary bound (sociology with a focus on the territorial dimension of social phenomena but not limited to urban sociology). Other disciplines or sub-disciplines are welcome to discuss and share their points of view, in particular considering the multiple paradigms and multiple methods characterising the social sciences.
During the first unit, the rational of the Forschungskolloquium will be presented and a schedule will be jointly developed.
