Aims, contents and method of the course

In this seminar for PhD students we want to discuss important original texts from Karl Marx and his critique of political economy as well as his analysis and critique of politics and the state. Moreover, we discuss recent contributions on the basis of Marx´ theory and its further development. One central question of the seminar is how Marx´ analytical approach can help us today to do research on current problems.
The seminar requires quite some reading in advance, depending on the student´s knowledge about Marx and Marxism.
