Aims, contents and method of the course

Research Colloquium/workshop: Ethnographies of Displacement, dispossession, and urban politics This research colloquium aims to bring the PhD projects that address different forms of displacements and dispossessions and their entanglements with the dynamics of commoning. As displacements would be approached in a broader way (both in physical and social terms) it would encompass migrants, refugees, asylum seekers but also the displaced through gentrification, extractivism or loss of livelihood. Students working on the political consequences of displacements and dispossession in terms of popular politics as well as movements of solidarity are welcome. The colloquium seeks to encourage the students to think about the spatial and temporal dimensions of their projects as well as the agency of the displaced and dispossessed. A focus on urban is welcome, however it is not a must. The course will address ethnographic writing with a theoretical frame.

Please note: The prerequisite for participation in research workshop is the conclusion of the doctoral thesis agreement.
