Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is designed for PhD students with an interest in the theories they and others are going to apply for their research, as well as in theories used in the wider field of European studies. Therefore, students are asked to prepare, already for the 1st unit (17th March, 13h00 - 16h30) a presentation and 3 page outline summarizing their PhD projects with particular emphasis on the use of theory (or questions they have whilst deciding that).

Assessment and permitted materials

Since discussions and (several) presentations are crucial in this course, full presence in the classes and intense advance preparation for them are core requirements (in addition to other contributions such as comments re others' presentations, partly to be prepared in bilateral or small group meetings).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Goal is more proficiency and confidence for the young scholars when discussing issues of social science and, in particular, integration theories.

Examination topics

Mix of presentations, reading, presentations, comments, (small) group discussions. The specifics of the course will be adapted to the needs and interests of the participants.
