Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This workshop follows on the research workshop for population students, but attendance to the previous workshop is NOT required to be able to participate in that second part. The student should be in the process of writing the method part of one of his/her research paper at the time of the workshop so as to fully benefit of it. Prerequisite for participation in the Research Workshop is the successful completion of the FÖP.

The main focus of the workshop will be on writing the method part of a research paper, or refining it. Some attention will also be given to the formulation of the research question and the writing of results, as they are related to the method.

Activities during the workshop will help the student to reflect on the content of the method part. They will be an opportunity to adapt general information on the best way to emphasise methodological choices to the specific needs of the paper.

In addition, each student will have to provide the method section of his/her paper to read to everybody during the workshop (preferably embedded in a wider draft of the paper). This will allow them to get peer-feedback, as well as feedback from the lecturer. Group activities will be organised, and students are expected to benefit from feedback as well as to provide it.

Please note: The prerequisite for participation in the Research Workshop is the conclusion of the doctoral thesis agreement.
