Aims, contents and method of the course

Inhalte:

The doctoral seminar will help to prepare the 10th annual Graduate Conference in European History (Graceh) in April 21-23, 2016, which will be hosted by the CEU Budapest in cooperation with the EUI in Florence and the University of Vienna. Doctoral students who would like to be engaged with Graceh are especially encouraged to take part in the seminar.

Aside from these purposes related to Graceh, the seminar will serve doctoral students who are interested in theory and method and the discussion of their dissertation projects.

Methoden:

The methodological basis for the discussion will be readings in comparative history, transferts culturels/Transfergeschichte, entangled history and other "relational approaches" in history and cultural studies.
Presentation of the thesis topic resp. of a chapter (if available)

Ziele:

The seminar entrains professionel skills such as presenting a scientific research topic at an international conference (GRACEH) as well as the application of methods and theories. Parts of book chapters can be discussed together in regard of scientific writing style, structure of argumentation, plausibility, a.s.o.
