Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar is dedicated to the needs of the members of the doctoral programme "The Austrian Galicia", but it is open to all PHD students interested in the history and research of this former Austrian province.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation in the course, oral presentation of a book, written book review.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
This seminar has three main object.
1. An introduction on how to write a PHD (most important libraries and archives, internet ressources, reference management software
2. An overview over the history of the region before it became Austrian in 1772, an introduction into the political and administrative structure of Galicia and the Empire, as well as an ovierview over important events during the interwar period, the Second World War and the communist period.
3. Familiarizing oneself with recent research on Galicia.
