Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is open for all doctoral students. The course has four thematic sessions: Different types of institutional approaches (including new institutionalism, Scandinavian institutionalism, discursive institutionalism); critical policy analysis; Grounded Theory; and narratives and discourses in education, in particular critical discourse analysis. Further details regarding course organization will be provided via Moodle.
Methods: Discussion, group work, presentations, peer-reviews.

Assessment and permitted materials

• Written presentation of paper idea (submit by January 9): 10 credits
• Oral & written feedbacks: 30 credits (will be graded)
• Final paper (due February 15): 30 credits (will be graded)
• Participation in discussion: 30 credits (including your role as special reader).

60 credits and the submission of the written assignment are needed to pass the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

• Mandatory attendance. Students may miss class twice in a term (without valid excuse).
• It is mandatory to hand in the written assignments (idea, peer-reviews, final paper).
• Detailed feedback on your classmates’ work is mandatory.

1 (sehr gut) 100-90 credits
2 (gut) 89-81 credits
3 (befriedigend) 80-71 credits
4 (genügend) 70-60 credits
5 (nicht genügend) 59-0 credits
