Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will:
*attend at least nine of the thirteen seminars
*submit a sample of written work (at least 5000 words and no more than 12,000 words) for group discussion (50% of overall grade)
*give a 30-minute presentation on the sample of written work and then participate in a 60-minute critical discussion of it (50% of overall grade)

Reading list
No reading is required for the introductory seminar. For each subsequent seminar, all students will read a piece of work-in-progress by a current doctoral student, which will be posted on Moodle at least one week before the seminar.

This course will provide a forum for presenting and critically discussing doctoral research in the general areas of phenomenology, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of science. The emphasis will be upon philosophical work that brings these areas into dialogue with each other, such as phenomenologically informed philosophy of mind, phenomenological analyses that draws upon scientific findings, and work addressing phenomenological conceptions of the nature and role of science.Methods:

*presenting one's own work in seminars
*critically discussing arguments and ideasAims:
Students will:
*become familiar with a range of issues concerning the relationships between phenomenology, philosophy of mind, and cognitive science
*practice presenting their own research
*learn how to better structure their work, clarify their philosophical positions, and improve their arguments
*refine their critical abilities through in-depth discussion of their own ideas and those of others
