Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims at giving an overview of research done by students at the Faculty of Physics as well as offer a place to connect with students from other groups and refine your skills in writing scientific articles. After an introduction on the publication process in the first units, students will give weekly talks on scientific articles from their research field. Challenges they are facing in translating the scientific work into a publication and how to overcome them will be discussed. Occasionally, there will be visits to laboratories to get an insight into the practical work related to the publications discussed in the seminar.

This course is open to students from all areas of physics (theoretical, computational or experimental) and to both PhD and MSc students. All presentations will be done in English.

Assessment and permitted materials

Format & content of your presentation, accessibility for students from different fields
Feedback on scientific articles to be read before the sessions

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Requirement for a positive grade: attendance (mandatory; at most three session can be missed with prior explanatory statement), giving a presentation, assessing scientific articles
The performance will be evaluated by "+" ("successfully attended") or "-" ("unsuccessfully attended").
