Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture will give an introduction into the properties of molecular nanostructures, such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and graphene. These materials are as low dimensional quantum solids correlated systems. They are mesoscopic System and cover the transition between atom and molecular physics to solid state and material physics, respectively. Depending on their size and dimension their properties can be described classically and/or by quantum mechanics.Basic understanding of solid state physics and quantum mechanics are helpful for the understanding of the course.
Assessment and permitted materials
Oral examination
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The aim of the course is the acquisition of knowledge which is required for a master thesis in the research field of solid state and materials physics specializing on low dimensional quantum solids.
Examination topics
Lecture. Combination from Powerpoint presentation and blackboard writing.
