Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Sudents will learn the fundamentals of high level compiling programming languages like Fortran and/or C. Students will learn how to work with compilers and software development tools on modern Linux based computer systems. The usage of existing programming libraries will be taught. At the end of the course, an outlook into programming cloud based applications like Amazons Alexa engine wil be given. All examples will be tailored to problems from theoretical/quantum chemistry.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students gain a fundamental understanding of high level programming languages like Fortran and/or C. Students are able to implement basic scientific problems in Fortran and/or C.

Examination topics

Throughout the course, simply programming problems will be hand out. At the end of the course, a larger, applied exercise/project is given and used for grading.
