Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Biomarkers have been used for diagnostic and prognostic purposes for many years now. The important group of stratification markers has been added rather recently. These markers enable an individualized therapy selection, as well as the monitoring of therapy successes, which is highly desirable for patients. However, before such biomarkers can be applied, suitable candidates have to be identified and subsequently validated. Basically there are two different methods for this, namely antibody- and mass spectrometry-based procedures. In this lecture the advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches will be discussed.
