Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents: Current Issues in Environmental Geosciences I seminar will focus on understanding the fate of metals, organic molecules and natural organic and inorganic colloids in the environment. The presentations will cover both naturally occurring and antropgenic compounds and will consider degradation, chemical speciation, transport, and exposure/uptake mechanisms and pathways. Furthermore, state of the art analytical techniques will be introduced and their potential for environmental research will be discussed. The seminars cover both fundamental and applied aspects of environmental research (e.g. the translation of science to remediation practice or legislation).

Language: English

Assessment: Students are strongly encouraged to discuss presented topics with the lecturer. The course will be evaluated by the course attendance and the contribution in discussions. Contribution in discussions will be evaluated by the comprehensiveness and appropriateness of questions.
