Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar encompasses the weekly meeting of the members of the "Dynamics of Stellar Systems" research group at the Department of Astrophysics and eternal collaborators, who are involved in developing the DYNAMITE (DYNamics Age and Metallicity Indicators Tracing Evolution) code. The DYNAMITE code is a synergy and extension of our existing Schwarzschild orbit-superposition and discrete chemo-dynamical numerical implementations. By fitting simultaneously the extracted stellar motions and population properties, the aim is to uncover the luminous and dark matter distribution of these galaxies as well as to unravel their formation history.Participants discuss and present the step-wise implementation, testing and applications of the DYNAMITE code.
Assessment and permitted materials
The assessment will be based on active participation, i.e., contributing to the discussions through asking questions and providing input.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The meetings are in English. Given the specialised nature of the meetings, a background in stellar dynamics as well as proficient C(++) and/or Python coding skills are required. A minimum participation of 75% is required as well as at least one informal presentation.
Examination topics
Topics related to the DYNAMITE code.
Reading list
Potential reading materials will be suggested in the meeting announcements.
