Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Topic of this colloquium are Austria’s autochthonous minorities, their history, current framework, culture, language, identity, et al. During the semester, students will have to prepare assigned texts and topics, which will then be presented and discussed in class. Furthermore, two come-together-events with minority representatives are planned.

Assessment and permitted materials

As the Colloquium implies continuous assessment of course work, students must attend. Students are expected reading the assigned literature, actively participating and taking part in discussions. The attendants will have to prepare assigned topics, the findings will be presented and discussed in class. At the end of the semester, students need to submit an essay (5 pages).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic requirement for positive grading: attendance (students may miss three classes maximum). Assessment criteria: active preparation, participation and involvement during the classes; presentation of assigned topics, essay (submission by the end of June).

Examination topics

There won’t be a written or oral exam.

Reading list and literature will be provided at the beginning of the semester and will be constantly updated on Moodle.
