Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The languages of the Balkan Peninsula will be analyzed from the point of view of areal linguistics. Their common features as well as their emergence will be discussed. The term "Sprachbund" will be a central theme. Also, the history of research on the Balkan languages will be reviewed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, presentation of a term paper, written paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

As above (students may miss classes three times without excuse).

Examination topics

There will not be an exam.
