Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture offers an overview of more recent Czech literature from the Romantic period to the present day, which is analysed on the basis of trends, genres, literary groups and individual authors and works.Czech literature is also used to gain a general understanding of the literary and cultural development of the 19th and 20th centuries as well as the historical context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Attendance is not compulsory for the lecture; the assessment is based on two partial examinations, which can be taken in any order: I. Overview of knowledge (based on the transcript and secondary literature) and II. Knowledge and understanding of the text (based on the compulsory reading list).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Each of the two parts of the examination must be assessed positively; the overall grade is calculated from the mean value.

Examination part I: Czech literature of the 19th and 20th centuries in a historical context; trends, genres, literary groups, individual authors and works of modern Czech literature.
Examination part II: Compulsory reading: text knowledge, text comprehension, analysis and interpretation.
