Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The figure of the heroic outlaw, who takes from the rich to give to the poor, is closely connected to the the area of the Carpatian mountains. In Polish, Slovak, and less in Chekh folklore and fiction texts are to be found which are devoted first of all to Janosik, the most famous Carpatian robber. His figure goes back to historic origins.

Assessment and permitted materials

presence, active participation, oral presentation, written paper to be submitted until 30. June 2016

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Most famous texts on Janosik from Polish, Slovak and Chekh literature shall be analyzed regarding to their genres and shall be compared. The developement of the figure from folklore to fiction shall be explored.

Examination topics

study of theorectic works for introduction; close reading of literary samples, information on historic background
