Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Language learning is a life-long process. Developing learner autonomy and responsibility for their learning seems to be one of the best things we can do to get our students ready for that journey. By taking control of their learning, we want students to become more actively and deeply involved, try more difficult tasks, have higher achievement, and know-how to learn so that they can learn more efficiently. Moreover, it should help to boost their intrinsic motivation. The course focuses on the question, how we can encourage learner autonomy in our classrooms.
Assessment and permitted materials
For passing the class, students are required to contribute actively to the course (discussion, content-relevant participation, homework), to create and present an exercise (in about 20 minutes; in the case of her or his being prevented, the student must submit the exercise in written form and introduce it in one of the following classes), and to submit the exercise with a commentary (approx. 3-5 pages whereby 1 standard page = 1800 characters including spaces). The exercise with commentary itself must be completed by June 30th, 2021.
The final grade is calculated as follows: active contribution + presentation of the exercise (50%), exercise with written commentary (50%).
The final grade is calculated as follows: active contribution + presentation of the exercise (50%), exercise with written commentary (50%).
