Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course, current tendencies in Polish language (e.g. in phonetics & phonology, morphology, syntax, and vocabulary) will be discussed and analyzed. We will investigate the linguistic and cultural reasons for language change and deal with different theories and models.

Assessment and permitted materials

For passing the class, students are required to contribute actively to the course (discussion, content-relevant participation, homework), to create a bibliography, to present a paper (in about 20 minutes; in the case of her or his being prevented, the student must submit the presentation in written form and introduce it in one of the following classes), and to write a paper (approx. 12–15 pages whereby 1 standard page = 1800 characters including spaces). To ensure good scientific practice, the course lecturer can provide for an oral reflection of the seminar paper submitted, which is relevant for the final assessment. The paper itself must be completed by June 30th, 2021, but must be handed in by August 31st, 2021 at the latest.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The final grade is calculated as follows: bibliography (10%), active contribution, and discussion (20%), presentation (20%), paper (50%). For passing the class, at least more than 50% must be achieved.
