Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

What role does literature play in foreign language teaching? Which intermedial forms of mediation enable access? What impulses do action and production-oriented tasks offer? This course explores the didactic potential of literature for linguistic, cultural and literary learning in the field of tension between competence orientation and aesthetic education. On the basis of analyses of current foreign language textbooks and the reading of concepts of literature and media didactics, learning scenarios for literary-aesthetic learning in foreign language teaching are developed, presented and evaluated. Attendance of a literature event (Book Vienna) is planned. This course works across languages, focusing on all Slavic teaching languages.

Assessment and permitted materials

Examination immanent course; performance assessment is carried out through partial assignments (written and oral incl. productive participation) as a portfolio (textbook and literature analysis, excerpts and reflection on specialist literature, development and presentation of a learning scenario for foreign language literature teaching, evaluation) using the content, scripts and materials taught in the course as well as specialist literature (in the semester apparatus).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Productive participation; at least 80% attendance; in the written and oral assignments, a concise, factually dense, formally correct, linguistically precise presentation that corresponds to the assignment is assessed, as well as the punctual submission. The assessment scheme of the portfolio (conceptually based on a seminar paper with practical relevance) is made available on Moodle.

Examination topics

Models and methods of foreign language literature teaching, textbook and literature analysis, excerpts and reflection on specialised literature
