Aims, contents and method of the course

Malarina, Toxische Pommes & satans_bratan - Komische Performance

Das Konversatorium befasst sich mit der Selbst-Exotisierung und gleichzeitigen Zelebrierung von balkanischer Vitalität im Wiener Kabarett und komischer Performance südslawischer Künstler:innen. Malarina, satans_bratan oder Toxische Pommes sind zeitgenössische Beispiele ‚migrierter‘ mehrsprachiger Performance-Künstler:innen, die per instagram, tiktok und live auf der Kabarettbühne die Begegnung von österreichischer Kultur mit einem Balkan-Subjekt inszenieren. Dabei bedienen sie sich eines bewährten südslawischen Diskurs-Musters: der balkanischen ruralen ‚Authentizität‘, die primitivistisch-antizipierend der Ausgrenzung durch Balkanismen (Todorova) entgegengeschleudert wird.
Im KO analysieren wir Sketche und Videos und zerlegen sie in wiederkehrende Motive, Verfahren und Strategien, mit denen Jugosla:Wienerinnen sich in Österreich zu Wort melden. Dabei rezipieren wir die Geschichte des „Barbarogenius“ und des novi primitivizam (von Micić über Krleža bis TLN und Kusturica), diskutieren Mehrsprachigkeitskonzepte in der transkulturellen Literatur (Yıldız, Ch'ien), das jeweils vor dem Hintergrund von Parodie- und Komik-Theorien (u.a. Tomaševskij, Hutcheon, Müller).
Am 5.12. haben wir "Malarina" als special guest im Seminar.

Regelmäßige Teilnahme (mind. 75%)
Benotung in aufsteigender Wichtigkeit:
20%: Mündliche Präsentation
30%: Aktive Beteiligung an der Diskussion
40%: Abschluss-Essay (ca. 4000-5000 Wörter)
