Aims, contents and method of the course

Media Reporting on Ukraine – Focus, Language Peculiarities and Historic Reflection:
Students will have the possibility to conduct research on how media present different historic, cultural and social aspects of the Ukrainian past and its present from the linguistic point of view. They will also be given the opportunity to choose their own topics or time periods for investigation.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation of the input, comments on the selected topics, articles, videos, etc. as well es active participation in their discussion or analysis; final presentation of the chosen topic is also expected with the focus on the language applyed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The objective will be to reach a certain practical level and to develop the ability to independently analyse and interpret media reporting including thematic focus, style and language.

Examination topics

Selected texts, films, videos, reports and publications on important historic and social topics will serve as a basis for research and discussions.

Reading list

The list of the materials will be provided to the students after the research topics have been identified
