Aims, contents and method of the course

Ziel des Seminars ist die kritische Diskussion und Bestandsaufnahme zeitgenössischer Helden- und Opfernarrative mit besonderem Fokus auf der Südslavia, aber auch darüber hinaus. (Süd-)Osteuropäische Heldennarrative stehen (zuletzt) in einer sozialistischen Helden-Tradition des anti-faschistischen Kampfes und der Selbstaufopferung für die Gemeinschaft. Das Nachleben dieser Narrative des 20. Jhs. kollidiert heute mit dem Post-Heroismus des 21. Jhs.
Im Seminar fragen wir: Wie werden historische Ereignisse gedenkpolitisch und künstlerisch inszeniert? Welche Funktion erfüllen gegenwärtige Narrativierungen im post-jugoslawischen (und post-sowjetischen) Raum? Wie integral sind Opfer- mit Heldennarrative verschränkt?

Assessment and permitted materials

-aktive Mitarbeit und Diskussionsbeteiligung
-mündliche Präsentation: Handout oder PPP eine Woche vorher bei der Seminarleitung abzugeben
-Seminararbeit: 15-20 Seiten, Bewertung (in absteigender Wichtigkeit) nach Eigenständigkeit der Fragestellung, argumentativer Stringenz, formaler sowie sprachlich-stilistischer Ausführung (weitere Details im Seminar)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

-aktive Nutzung des moodle-Kurses sowie aktive Mitarbeit
-regelmäßige Anwesenheit (mind. 75% der Einheiten)
-Abgabe der Seminararbeit
