Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This practice-oriented conversation course is designed as a supporting course in the Master's curriculum to provide a comparative description of the complex language structures of modern Czech and Slovak and to consolidate them by means of language exercises. Emphasis will be placed on verbal morphology and selected syntactic phenomena. In addition, students will be given increased opportunity for questioning.
Conversational courses are characterized by the active participation of the students who are continuously assessed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students are expected to make an active contribution of their own (homework, discussion, compulsory content-related participation), which is included in the grading. The most important contribution for performance assessment is a written examination on the topics covered during the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

As the minimum requirement for a positive assessment, in addition to the active contribution (homework, discussion, compulsory content-related participation), students must take a written exam on the topics covered. In order to pass this exam, at least more than half of the possible number of points must be achieved. The other half of the number of points can be divided into four quarters, from each of which the test grade is calculated according to the number of points. 50% of the written exam is included in the overall grade, the active contribution by the student forms the other 50%. More than half of the total sum of grade-relevant criteria must be fulfilled for a positive result. The other half can be divided into four quarters, from each of which the final grade is calculated.

Examination topics

On the basis of the prescribed literature, the test contents consist of the topics covered during the course from all levels of Czech and Slovak grammar in a comparative perspective.
