Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course focusses on the complexity of the learning process and the design of lesson considering the most recent knowledge and research on teaching and learning. The relevant topics will be discussed and illustrated on the basis of presently running research projects. Practical consequences for teaching and learning will be drawn, e.g. regarding lessons design and questions of evaluation and assessment. In this context the question will be asked which competences teachers need for high quality teaching.
The following topics will be discussed:
Which concepts of learning are presently discussed in learning research?
Which concepts of learning do the various learning theories follow - from behavioristic to cognitivistic and constructivist theories?
How is teaching to be designed on the basis of what we know about learning?
Which questions for school development are to be asked?
Which consequences for teacher education and the competences teachers should develop are to be drawn?

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation in the face-to-face course, at least two competent contributions in the Moodle online-forum
Positive grade for the multiple choice exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

See above.
The multiple choice exam is positive which 50% positive answers. The forum contributions show that the student understands the main aspects of a topic and can competently contribute to the discussion
