Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

A careful introduction into the field will be done by discussing practice research, methods of teaching observation, gathering of data and its systematic analysis. This basis provides a theoretical reflexion of pedagogic practice and offers security and flexibility for the preparation of own educational concepts for students. Within a practical period, students will prepare, conduct and analyze short teaching sequences. In a common reflection process, basic concepts and discrepancies of various educational concepts will be discussed, especially in light of institutional aspects such as organizational and dynamic school development as well as different forms of interaction at school.

Assessment and permitted materials

Tasks will be posted on Moodle, active participation in class, creation of a portfolio (comprehensive project report)
- 100% class attendance (compulsory)
- active participation in class
- conduction of teaching sequences including preparation meetings before and discussion meetings afterwards
- occasional other tasks

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The classes offered within the PÄP (Pädagogisches Praktikum) will provide insights into the future field of practice for the students and give them the opportunity to gather first teaching experiences. Furthermore students shall experience the complex dynamics in class as well as in an institutional setting of a school.

Examination topics

A thorough discussion of basic literature is of utmost importance. This will be done in small working groups and enable students to observe classes and get the best possible tools for preparing their own teaching sequences. In certain reflection periods, their teaching experiences will be analyzed and discussed among the students.
