First date on 12.10. at the PH Vienna, further dates then at the Federal Institute for the Blind, Wittelsbachstraße 5, 1020 Vienna.
Getting to know possibilities of how joint teaching of sighted people as well as of students with blindness or visual impairment can work apart from ideological ideas.
Immersion in the "world" of people with blindness and visual impairment through many offers with self-experience.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students gain insights into the advantages and disadvantages of the respective forms of schooling/teaching: Inclusion/Special school
The focus here will be on the challenges in the inclusive setting:
- Support teacher vs. school assistant - the fine line between support and social isolation.
- Accessible learning materials
- Orientation and mobility
- Daily living skills
- The different braille systems (full writing, short writing, computer braille, maths braille, ...)
- The different aids (blackboard camera systems, Braille displays, use of laptops and tablets)
- Common physical education.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation in various self-experiences.
Regular attendance, or written notice of absence if unable to attend, as well as written compensation.
Punctual attendance at the respective locations.
Elaboration of a given catalogue of questions about possible challenges in the inclusive setting with practical suggestions for solutions.

Examination topics

With the help of the contents of the course, own practicable approaches to solutions for various given challenges that can arise in the inclusive setting with pupils with blindness or visual impairment have to be written down.
