Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims at giving an overview of research done by students at the Faculty of Physics as well as offer a place to connect with students from other groups and refine your skills in writing and reading scientific articles. We will review the design and style of scientific articles relevant to the research fields of the participants of the seminar. Challenges students are facing in translating the scientific work into a publication and how to overcome them will be discussed. Each participant of the seminar will be asked to provide an essay on e.g. the publishing system, open science, data visualisation and management, dissemination and communication which will be discussed together in a forum and/or live chat. Background reading and a list of potential topics will be available on Moodle. In addition to the discussion of scientific articles and the practical work behind, short writing exercises will be assigned regularly which can be uploaded on Moodle and which will be discussed together in the following session.
This course is open to students from all areas of physics (theoretical, computational or experimental) and to both PhD and MSc students. All presentations will be done in English.
