Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Basics of advanced optical spectroscopy. Optics. Basic introduction of Raman infrared and photoluminescence spectroscopy, Spectrometers, Physical properties related to the dielectric response function, linear response theory, Kramers-Heisenberg model dielectric function, group theoretical analysis of vibrational modes and transition matrix elements, and many examples of applications.
The lecture scriptum and zoom links for online participation are provided on moodle.

Having passed the core module 11 is recommended, but no strict requirement.
Electrodynamics, quantenmechanics and linear algebra will be provided in a very condensed form.

Assessment and permitted materials

oral exams on 3 days every semester, the exact time slots are flexibel.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

At the oral eaxam you will have to proof excellent knowledge on the topics of the lecture and be able to explain the physical models in good detail.
