Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Target:
The students will be able to independently manufacture and adapt simpler components of their experimental setups by selecting suitable materials and processing methods. Furthermore, the sense and ability to assess the technological feasibility should be sharpened.

Content:
- Accident prevention in a mechanical workshop
- Reading of technical drawing
- Material selection and its effect on machining
- Construction and operation of the available machines
- Understanding and mastering the available manufacturing processes

Method:
Guided work in a mechanical workshop.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance; partial grades from performance assessment of individual performance (cooperation, work piece, oral questioning).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquisition of the basic knowledge for independent and safe work on machine tools.
