Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course offers a general introduction to latent variable modeling (i.e., statistical analysis with latent variables) in Mplus. Note that the course will only deal with continuous latent variables (e.g., factors corresponding to unobserved constructs), while the Mplus modeling framework is also able to deal with categorical latent variables (e.g., latent classes corresponding to homogeneous groups of individuals).

The course will cover the following topics:
- Mplus syntax
- Importing data from SPSS to Mplus
- Basic concepts in statistics
- Regression and path analysis
- Mediation analysis with cross-sectional data
- Confirmatory factor analysis
- Structural equation modeling

This course is designed to work with Mplus (see: www.statmodel.com). Note that there is no requirement to obtain a license since the free demo version of the program will be sufficient to work on all exercises.

Seminar will be held as an online course (digital) and will be taught in English.

Course enrollment before 14.10.2020 via email to takuya.yanagida@univie.ac.at
