Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The goal of this course is to bring the students and guests attending this relatively informal series of lectures to the research topic of time- frequency analysis, which is the subject of a parallel special semester at ESI (April - Juni 2005) and which is also the main area for the
upcoming European Excellence Center EUCETIFA (based on a so-called Marie Curie Excellence Grant).
upcoming European Excellence Center EUCETIFA (based on a so-called Marie Curie Excellence Grant).
Examination topics
The methods used are mostly taken from functional and harmonic analysis.
Basic knowledge in the area of Banach space theory and Hilbert spaces are requested.

number of visitors) are application oriented aspects of harmonic analysis, such as Banach spaces of functions and distributions, Wiener amalgams, coorbit spaces. In particular, the role of the so-called Feichtinger algebra S_0(Rd) will
be described, which allows the use of a so-called Banach Gelfand triple, most suitable for the description of many questions arising in
time-frequency analysis.
