During one week, four National Parks in Austria (Thaya Valley, River Meadows of the Danube, Lake Neusiedlersee, and Limestone Mountains in Upper Austria) are visited. Together with local NP responsibles and managers, the visitor centers are frequented and excursions to sensible areas of the single NPs were organized. The primary aim of this subject is to inform the students on the central concerns of the single NPs from the well informed source of the direct responsible managers and scientists: natural pecularities, endangered species, conservation objectives, management plans, administration, research and education activities, conflicts of interests with residents and/or neighboors, etc.
To introduce to the excursions, a seminare will be organized in June, where every participant has to give a short presentation of one of the above mentioned subjects. These oral presentations together with their written versions, are the criteria for a positive participation. For technical reasons, the number of participants must be restricted to 30.
